We have never seen a squad like this

Here is something very interesting.

"Let's be clear, the playoffs are not the best barometer of greatness. The Spurs were half a minute from a title last year. Are a few clutch threes from Ray Allen enough to "prove" that LeBron and the Heat were the superior team last year? However, the playoffs have proven something about the Spurs: this is a unique team. We have never seen a squad like this – regular season or playoffs."

There will be great teams in the future that are hybrids of Spurs concepts but I doubt that when looking back at the Popovich era, his contributions to the game's concept will not likely ever be matched as to total innovation. Pop's innovation is never ending. Even after a championship, Pop added more staff to the program in a manner that has never been seen before.
I can't help but think that the Spurs have yet another innovation to teach the basketball world with their recent moves. When Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are no longer there, the team is not likely still an immediate title contender but at the same time I don't think that it will be a lottery team either unlike teams such as Chicago or Boston who crashed and burned after Jordan and Byrd retired.
