Why is Harden on Team USA?

I thought he was born and raised in Australia. Did he become a USA citizen or is he a naturalized citizen?

His biography background on nba.com supports that as well (James Harden Stats, Video, Bio, Profile | NBA.com )

Australia? Never heard that lol. Where a player is born doesn't matter anymore in international play. Hakeem eventually played for Team USA and he was born in Africa.

You can play for whatever country you are a citizen of. For multiple nationality, you are allowed to pick which country you play for once, then it is set.
