Interesting Perspective: Dallas sportswriter's Q&A about Spurs
Columnist Tim Cowlishaw answered questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.

Question: Anything Deja Vu about the Mavs/Spurs series considering they both choked to the Heat in the finals the year before, had the NBA's best record the next year, tied 1-1 with the 8th and lowest playoff seed going on the road, to a road team that has Monta Ellis?

Tim Cowlishaw: I love that. Hadn't thought of it in those terms. Difference is these Spurs won 13 more games than Mavericks. Dallas in '07 had (gulp) 25 more wins than Golden State. Still think, in player intros in Oakland, Stephen Jackson being frisked for weapons each night by Matt Barnes one of the great moments in NBA history. David Stern would not see it that way.

Question: Did Gregg Popovich get out-coached in Game 2? I don't think so. I think his players thought they could coast a little mentally and got burned. I expect a rout in Game 3 by the Spurs, because the older a team gets, the more they try to win with as little effort as possible and it's the Mavs turn to take the foot off the gas. Thoughts?

Tim Cowlishaw: I don't foresee a rout by either team but I think Popovich definitely had a problem on his hands in getting his team to believe Dallas posed a real problem. If I've beaten someone in golf 10 times in a row, I'm going to think I can keep doing it forever and not hit the driving range or putting green before the match. Bad example? Maybe, but the point is now the Spurs know what can happen if they struggle on offense. I wouldn't expect the Spurs to commit 24 turnovers Saturday. But I also don't expect Dirk to keep shooting 33 percent the entire series.
