When Durant scores 50 points. Seriously though, he won't be able to do that over a 7 game series against a good coach and a good defense. They couldn't do it last year without him.

He sure is scoring a lot of points to barely beat some of these teams. I think he's doing too much to try and get that top seed. Don't know if it'll burn him out....trying for #1 and the MVP, but it sure to see how it unfolds.

BSPN: DURANT DOMINATES IN HUGE WIN OVER 3 SEED FROM EASTERN CONFERENCE.

Reality: OKC needs a huge game from Durant to overcome a team that would be a lottery team (10th) in West.

That hit looked nasty on replay, but I would expect Westbrook to react this way to any injury no matter how minor to this knee. I'm going to look at this as a wait and see, but OKC needs Westbrook at 100% to survive the guantlet of the Western Conference in the playoffs.

CAn the Clippers beat OKC in a seven game series right now, with or without Westbrook?

If the answer is yes, then we know it will be Pop and Doc facing off in the Western Conference Finals.

Big Market vs Small. That's what the NBA prefers at a minimum. They HATE small market vs small market in big televized playoff series. ;)

Eric Smith: Westbrook's knee - hit by Lowry - is indeed the one he had surgery on. Hope all is okay for him. Didn't look good. #Thunder #Raptors #RTZ Twitter @Eric__Smith

Teams still have 14 games left in the regular season to position themselves for the playoffs. Each team is going about it in a different way. The Spurs are healthy at the moment and running on all cylinders as best they can without a backup to Kawhi. OKC is sitting Sefalosha and Perkins until they are completely healthy and Butler is still learning their system. The Clippers have made excellent end of deadline acquisitions and still working them into their system. The Warriors are beginning to wake up. Houston is too inconsistent to figure out.

When the dust settles at the end of the regular season, a new season begins and players respond differently. If a team wins on the opponent's home court, home court advantage for that series disappears in the blink of an eye.

With all of those variables and over the course of so much more time to go, I just sit back and watch and hope for the best. One thing I don't do is dis any of these teams as not being possible contenders.

As to Toronto, their full season record may put them into a category where they would not make the Western Conference Playoffs but they have developed into an excellent team in the latter part of the season. A victory over them is not insignificant.

I have never forgotten the Houston Rockets finishing the regular season near the bottom of the play off seeds and winning the championship.
