Duncan DPOY

Ok, so everyone here knows that Tim Duncan will most certainly not win DPOY this year. However, I will make this argument anyway for the anchor to the 2nd best defense in the western conference.

Top 10 in Rebounds and Blocks per game.
And the ONLY player in the entire NBA that has more blocks registered than fouls committed!!

Just give it to him once in his career please!!!

Nice try, but a healthy KY takes it over TD from this point on.

Not yet. TD is still the only shot blocker we have, and the real reason that Kawhi can play so tight on the perimeter. Its easy to not be afraid of getting beat when you know you have one of the best shot blockers of all time in the paint.

If Lebron doesn't win MVP, you know the league will give him DPOY.

Agree that usually it's a C/PF that wins this award due to blocks, however, Artest and Bowen were also regular candidates without any large amount of blocks. The few and far between past winners that were not C/PF were Artest, G Payton, Jordan, and Alvin Robertson. There may have been more had a few players not dominated this category for such a long period of time (Olajuwon, Rodman, Mutombo, Ben Wallace, Dwight Howard).

While Duncan is the backbone of our defense, KY is our best man to man defender.

I hereby submit that both Kawhi Leonard TD be nominated for the DPOY award. After KY’s defensive play against James and KY’s timely steals in last night’s nationally televised game against Miami, they both should garner some major votes in the balloting. If it doesn’t, then someone should go to the league and question the voting procedures. I strongly believe that the award should be based on the players’ personal performance and not on how loud the player himself voices his opinion he should be awarded the honor or how much his team management grandstands their support of their player (case in point, Marcus Camby. Then again, I could be completely wrong on how the voting system goes. But, we do have new leadership in the league office and might see some changes. IMHO, of course.
