Saturday Night y'all -- Spurs vs Miami (Televised - NBATV)

Particulars: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, American Airlines Arena

Broadcast: Televison — NBA TV; Radio — 1200 WOAI, 1350 KCOR

Setting the stage: This game doesn’t mean anything compared to the two regular-season meetings coming up (at Miami on Jan. 26 and at San Antonio on March 26), let alone what happened last summer in the Finals. Yet Tony Parker admitted on Friday that the ghosts still linger “a little bit” in their first return to American Airlines Arena since dropping Games 6 or 7 there in last season’s Finals. “But you can’t let it bother you,” he said. “It’s a new season. Use it as motivation.”

Who to watch: The Heat might care even less about the preseason than the Spurs after playing into June in each of the past three seasons. Dwyane Wade has been limited to two games, and offseason signing Greg Oden has yet to play at all. LeBron James has looked great, as expected. Even more encouraging, Chris Bosh, so often relegated to third-wheel status by James and Wade, hasn’t been far behind, averaging 17 points in limited minutes.

Same ole, same ole... I'm guessing no big 4. Or just extremely limited minutes.

Here’s a twist. James, Wade, Bosh and Allen are told to not show and they watch the game from the home of the lawyer who sued Pop and the Spurs over last year’s no-show by our Spurs on national TV.

Ok it's preseason, but Miami looks very strong, and we looked very average.

Miami's entire roster brought impressive energy and execution.

Looked to me like we are still carrying that stigma of not having our heads in the game --- turnovers, sloppy passing and ballhandling. Well, we had better work on that before playoffs come around because come 30 October against Memphis, the wins and losses all start to count.

It was embarassing and I took special note of the absence of our assistant coaches- both of whom were among the NBA's best. Make no mistake.. They will be missed.

I wasn't thinking about that. Good observation.
