Spurs release Young
The Spurs have released free agent small forward Sam Young, according to an NBA source. Young’s release was confirmed via statement on Thursday.
Young is a veteran of four NBA seasons, the last with Indiana. He played just one exhibition game for the Spurs, finishing with no points on 0-for-6 shooting in Wednesday’s overtime victory against CSKA Moscow.
His release increased the likelihood the Spurs will begin the regular season with only 14 contracts, one fewer than the maximum of 15. None of the five remaining camp invites, including veteran Corey Maggette, saw action against CSKA.

The writer may end up being correct but I think it is an unfounded assumption after only one preseason game to assume that Maggette doesn't make the team. When Pop is ready to put him on the floor in critical preseason moments, his production will determine that. Everyone will get their fair chance before the season begins.
