Scola to Indiana?

They are talking sending scola to Indiana for Green and Ian, lol, we can't even sign someone to over 3 million and this deal might happen. What the hell is going on here, we would not even attempt to get a guy like this and stay with a guy like Bonner, I've never been so irked with the spurs. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

IMO our time for scola was when Houston brought him over. Now hes just a serviceable big man whos not very athletic. However I'd still take him over bonner hah.

I think he meant to say not very good on defense.

I can understand that he might not be the best defender out there, but he can get tough rebounds, which is a pure defensive stat, which he is light years better than Bonner. His offensive game would be perfect for our bench. He would be a pure upgrade over any big we have on our bench in my opinion. As you can tell I hate Bonner, always have, my buddies laugh at me all the time, because when we went with Bonner I was pissed and they always remind me of that fact.

Here's a reference article on the proposed trade:

Suns close to trading Luis Scola to the Pacers

Brett Pollakoff, Jul 27, 2013, 12:56 AM EDT

As the Suns continue to look at deals that will get them younger while they attempt to rebuild from the ground up, another one of the team’s veteran players is on the verge of being sent out of town.

The Pacers are close to completing a deal with Phoenix to acquire Luis Scola, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The other players or picks involved beyond Scola on both sides are unclear at this point, but the details are expected to be worked out overnight and finalized at some point on Saturday.

An early stage of the discussions may have involved Danny Granger, but Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that Granger is now not part of the package.

Scola can still play a bit, and his decrease in minutes last season in Phoenix should be viewed in context of what was going on there, and not as some sort of indication that Scola’s skill set had diminished so rapidly. The Suns threw in the towel once they replaced Alvin Gentry with Lindsey Hunter mid-season, and once that happened, the rotations were so erratic that nothing could be gleaned positively or negatively from a particular player by simply looking at the minutes he received.

In Indiana, Scola will only need to do better than Tyler Hansbrough did for them off the bench, which is setting the bar relatively low, even for a player like Scola who will be 33 years old while entering his seventh NBA season.

Scola has a low cap number of just $4.5 million this year, and is only partially guaranteed the $4.8 million in the final year of his deal the following season. That makes players like Gerald Green or Ian Mahinmi a match to come back to Phoenix in a trade from a salary standpoint, although the Suns will no doubt try to get draft picks in the deal, as well.

Scola has carer averages of 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and appeared in all 82 contests for the Suns last season.

Obviously, IND wants to move into the lottery for a shot at Wiggens.

Jeez, Indiana had to give up Green for Scola, we don't have any tradable pieces comparable to him. Especially since the rise of Paul George and Lance Stephenson made Green expendable for Indiana.

It was the draft picks that Phx wanted, Green is just to make the salaries work.

Spurs have pieces, just seems like they play hard ball with other teams. Only if it works in their favor.I'm pretty sure there may have been a trade scenario for Neal, but the Spurs didn't like it. So letting Neal walk and open up another roster spot was more important. I feel the same will happen to Blair. They rather lose a guy for nothing, than to bring in anyone's junk.

Exactly, Spurs are smart like that.

In effect Bellinelli signing and losing Neal was a trade. one which seemed to benefit all participants. Nothing wrong with that approach.

But that approach won't help up land a guy like Ariza. But he sure would be a nice piece for us. Like to have him and Leonard on the floor at the same time. I also think he's just rotting away in Washington, just might rejuvenate his career here...get back to being the Ariza we know.
