Spurs may be trying to make a Deal with Denver for...

The Spurs have emerged as a team interested in Mozgov and they could be the team trying to construct a deal with Denver. HoopsWorld

Timofey Mosgov: Mosgov has been a regular at Impact Basketball in Las Vegas, going hard daily against the likes of Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka.

The word around Summer League was that Mozgov was headed to the Sacramento Kings as a free agent, although the Denver Nuggets were trying to re-sign him.

There were reports this week that after signing guard Nate Robinson to a free agent deal, the Nuggets could be working on a sign-and-trade deal for Mozgov.

The Spurs have emerged as a team interested in Mozgov and they could be the team trying to construct a deal with Denver.

Like DeJuan Blair, the window for a deal for Timofey is open and it seems like he could come off the free agent board fairly soon.

Interesting as there is no suggestion of what kind of a deal we are talking about.

I wouldn't mind mozgov, but it sure would be nice to have Andre miller.

Possibly Diaw or Bonner.
And maybe Blair.

His qualifying offer was just a touch under $4M, so maybe a 3 year deal at around MLE.

Interesting, if nothing else.

If Oden decides to go to South Beach in the fall, it would be nice to have an option available in Timofey Mosgov, if he's still available next week. He didn't play a lot of minutes with Denver, but at 7'1", he can still be an intimidator in the lane with 6 more fouls to burn.

Is he really that much better than Aaron Baynes esp. at almost 4x the cost? I'd much rather roll the dice on Oden...

Maybe I should have been more specific and said it should make things interesting - as in now they would have to look at other free agents should oden not come but we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel if we are looking for a big.

Timofey Mozgov, Nuggets reach agreement on three-year deal

The Denver Nuggets have reached agreement on a three-year, $14 million contract extension with restricted free-agent center Timofey Mozgov, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The deal will include a team option in the third year, a source said.

An opportunity for Mozgov to play a significantly increased role with Denver opened because of a draft night deal that sent center Kosta Koufos to the Memphis Grizzlies. Mozgov will play behind starting center JaVale McGee under new coach Brian Shaw.

Several sign-and-trade scenarios were discussed over recent weeks, but Mozgov and the Nuggets were committed to re-partnering after getting closer on the terms of the deal in the past week, sources said.

Mozgov, 27, averaged 5.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 15.6 minutes per game for Denver in 2011-12, but his role decreased this past season under former Nuggets coach George Karl.

A member of the Russian national team, Mozgov still has to complete the NBA's rookie transition program in August, something he had been previously unable to do because of national team commitments.

Mozgov was an important part of the Nuggets' trade of Carmelo Anthony to New York in 2011, the final player Denver management held out to secure before agreeing upon the blockbuster deal.

As an undrafted prospect out of Russia, Mozgov entered the NBA with a three-year, $9.7 million contract with the Knicks in 2010.

I know the Knicks got a lot of flack when they signed him but at that time he was actually the number #1 prospect overseas. Gary Neal was like #4-#5 at that very same time period too. Not surprised he actually panned out. He has game.
