NBA.com rookie rankings... Number 9 : Deshaun Thomas

9
Deshaun Thomas : SAN ANTONIO SPURS

Based off the Spurs' success at finding gems late in the second round, it should be no surprise if Thomas pans out. For the third straight game, Thomas put up solid numbers, finishing with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting. Through three games, the swingman out of Ohio State is averaging 17 points on 54 percent shooting and is 6-for-12 from behind the arc. The 58th pick looks comfortable and plays in control while showing off a smooth lefty stroke. -- July 15

That's great. He probably feels he has to prove to all those teams that passed him up that he will be in the NBA. Good for him!

I didn't know that they had a Rookie Ladder before the season even starts. Came as a surprise especially since not all teams have Summer League teams.

So far I have liked what Ive seen from him. I just think we need to open up another roster sport or two so that we can give him some time with the team or the toros while also signing oden or someone of the like to help now.

Is he different than James Anderson?

I don't know if the Spurs can reasonably take on anyone new. The roster spots seem taken.

That said, if Spurs can package Neal and others to get one player back, Thomas might be a bigger version of Neal's gunslinger off the bench.

I've been impressed by him. I never thought he would be there at #58. I had him at the #40-#45 range. A steal during the draft and even more so after.

Neal isn't on the roster right now, there's one spot left.

But Neal can be on the roster if he wants to be.
The Spurs made a qualifying offer.

So far LOVE what I saw from D Thomas. LOVE his PURRRE Jump Shots!!!!!!And most importantly SIZE!!!
Let's keep D Thomas and not send him to Euro League overseas.
