Spurs have submitted qualifying offers for both Tiago Splitter and Gary Neal, making both restricted free agents.

By tendering QOs for Splitter and Neal, Spurs retain right to match outside offers on both players

I can't imagine some team not offering him 8+ million.

If we don't sign him immediately before he gets any offers, I think he might be gone.

So we should offer him 6, 7, 8 (3 years, 21) or let him go IMHO.

Three years at $21 mil is about right. I imagine he'll get a better offer elsewhere, so it depends on whether he likes SA.

The only thing that sucks with this is that the Spurs have to to have a cap number held for each of these players until an offer from another team is made and they go through the process of matching it.

Which in effect puts a stranglehold on their cap space and and limits what they can offer to Free Agents once midnight hits tonight. So no bigger signings will happen anytime soon. On top of that the did not release Bonner before the deadline so unless they Amnesty him quickly they will have very very little money to spend going out the gate.

Personally I've resigned myself to the belief that the Spurs will pretty much stand pat.

You're probably right, Michael, and they'll enter training camp with one question: "What if?"

I guess , like most Spurs fans, they've fallen victim to the myth that Manu will only play better next year, ignoring history, age, and the big elephant in the room.
