Sixers talking to Spurs' Brett Brown
Sixers to talk to San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown, according to report | NJ.com
On a day where the team seems to have moved on from Adam Aron, they also appear to be moving closer to a new head coach.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Yahoo! Sports, the Sixers have asked for and received permission from the San Antonio Spurs to talk to assistant coach Brett Brown about their head coaching vacancy.
Brown has also been a target of the Denver Nuggets, according to Wojnarowski, and has already met with the team. It is not known at this time when the Sixers will be talking to Brown.
If the Sixers do want Brown, they might have to move fast. The Nuggets are expected to make a decision on their head coach by Thursday. It's hard to imagine if offered the Nuggets job, Brown would wait around in hopes of landing with the Sixers.
The move to interview Brown might explain the reason this process has taken so long. With the Spurs making it all the way until the seventh game of the NBA Finals, the Sixers had to wait until the season was over to make their move. It would also explain what seems to be a lack of interviews even going on for the job by the Sixers.
Brown has been with the Spurs since 2001 as a bench coach under Greg Popovich. If the Sixers were able to land Brown, he certainly would come with a winning resume.
