Oberto could join Spurs staff
Former Spurs forward Fabricio Oberto hinted in a recent interview with veteran Argentine journalist Julian Mozo that he might have an opportunity to join their coaching staff to replace the departing Mike Budenholzer.
Oberto, who played on the 2007 championship team before being traded in 2009, must first finalize his retirement after a brief stint with his original club, Atenas of Argentina. Oberto told Mozo that he turned down an offer to enter coaching last year. Now, he said, another team has offered him an opportunity “to start at the bottom” but declined to offer details.
Oberto said he has maintained contact with Spurs general manager R.C. Buford, who has apparently told him there’d be a spot with the team in some capacity if he was ever interested.
Oberto, 38, was seen at the team practice facility in early May before the Spurs began their second-round series with Golden State.
Kind of sketchy details, to be sure, but there’s at least recent precedent for a former player to join the coaching staff with Ime Udoka, who just completed his rookie season on the bench.

This could be a very good move if true I hope. I think Oberto's Basketball knowledge could help us in many ways. Especially if Manu can relate to Oberto and they can be good buddies again! :D
