K Leonard Is Still Just A Baby

"I just talked to Kawhi and told him he was absolutely amazing," Popovich said after Game 7. "Nobody expected him at this young age to play the way he has through the whole playoffs. He really is a star in the making. He's just beginning to feel what he has. He's like a little baby learning how to walk, as far as NBA basketball is concerned. He (could be) a senior in college this year, and he's come so far, and a lot of that credit goes to [Spurs assistant coaches] Chip Engelland and Chad Forcier what they've done in developing him."

"It's very tough, knowing you left it all out on the floor," Leonard said after the Game 7 loss. "All I can do is learn from it moving forward, try to get better this summer and try to get the team back here next year."

Kawhi Leonard is Spurs' bright spot in NBA Finals loss

The heat may have beaten us this year, but watching Leonard's play in the last game was like the end of a movie right before the credits where the monster has been killed but you see a little egg about to hatch. We will be back.

loved watching kawhi and his bad arse game all playoffs, finals, and game 7.
excited to see him continue to evolve.

as far as your "We will be back." ???
again, love kawhi, but we will be back w/ what?

kawhi leonard and what armY? the team is gone.
ginobili is a spurs legend, but theres clearly nothing further for him to contribute.
duncan if he comes back will be strong, but still alone down low.
tp will play amazing all season, but will always have a shawn marion, or lebron that will take care of him in big games.

i will really enjoy kawhi tearing into the league, but i have no idea about 'we'lll be back'

hope so.

Every team changes, the system gets tweaked, and those who were role players before get their workload increased and they get forged into Spurs Stars. That's how it's been, that's how it will always be. 1 down low Big with polished skills and a Very Capable Backup PG with triple-threat skills so that even if Tony isn't on the court, that backup doesn't require a system change because he lacks TP's skills like when Joseph, DeColo, and Mills plays.

agree, at least a jamal crawford off the bench, and a athletic big, heavier than kawhi but faster than our traditional pf/c one of those hybrids like odom, josh etc... we need someone playing small ball PF who punish any team who try to put their sf on Tony...
