Manu is gone and magically we address the back pg issue (it's been 10 years and counting...) and the C or PF problem and the lack of killer instict.
I agree. Time to move on from the idea that is Manu Ginobili, good and bad, so the real problems can be addressed. And I tell you, it will look a lot worse until it starts to look better.
He will be back here next year at reduced Salary and a different role IMO.

Manu, aside from a few games where Tony was injured, was already almost a nonfactor during the year. I know you like to think that Manu is what makes the Spurs go, but that hasn't been the case for at least 2 years. It would have been nice if he had contributed more than he did, because that would have won the series, but he is dispensable. If Manu were to retire, it wouldn't make that much of a difference, although I'd like to see him in there for spots next year.

Manu is what sparks the general spurs fan crowd. I think he's been around more for a mental spark to the team rather than a legitimate spark for awhile. The team typically gets a lift when he comes off of the bench to take over the second team. However after seeing him this last year I think we need someone to actually make a huge impact coming off the bench rather than just the mental.

You can say Manu has been a non factor for awhile or that he is more of a fan spark than a than a player spark and that's how he appropriately should have been used as I agree, but the realty is that Pop used him and bet on him in the finals as THE spark for the team, benching Cory Joseph....and that's not an observation by me in hindsight. It's something that disturbed me in 6 out of 7 games in the series. Furthermore, the reality is that with the changes and adjustments going on between each game, almost any bench player could have had one stellar night in 7 because of the circumstances. i.e. Gary Neil. i.e. Manu.
