Mike D'Antoni tried to talk the Lakers into going after Utah's Raja Bell as late as last Monday if his former Suns guard could reach a buyout with the Jazz, according to a league source. But the Lakers didn't feel Bell was worth adding more millions to an already-humongous payroll, and they passed, leaving Bell with nowhere to go in time to be eligible for a playoff roster. NBA.com

even though he'd fit with that team and add toughness on the perimeter, D'Antoni would be stuck in getting minutes for someone somewhere even if it meant the best player for stretches in Earl Clark. D'Antoni adores Nash, Bell, and Kobe and that'd probably force Metta at the 4 for full time with Gasol out.

Too bad for Raja. Seemed like he was awaiting this buyout for the past 2-3 seasons. Good luck to him
