The Spurs this morning announced a raffle fundraiser to benefit one of the club’s favorite charities, the San Antonio Food Bank.
At $50 a ticket, fans can purchase a chance to win a 2013 Toyota Tundra featuring a one-of-a-kind design by Spurs forward Tim Duncan, whose BlackJack Speed Shop recently opened near the team’s practice facility.
The all-black vehicle, with subtle silver pinstriping, sports the Spurs logo on the grill, as well as on one spoke of each custom wheel.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Eric Cooper, president and CEO of the food bank, were on hand to unveil the truck and the fundraiser after the team’s morning shootaround.
Tickets for the drawing are capped at 5,000, with the potential to raise a quarter of a million dollars for the Food Bank. Tickets can be purchased online at http://safoodbank.org/spurstruck/
The winner will be announced May 1.
The San Antonio Food Bank is charity near and dear to the heart of Popvich, who has worked closely with the organization for years.
“They do great work,” Popovich said. “One in four kids in San Antonio goes to bed hungry.
That’s just unbelievable. The same with the elderly, who sometimes have to make the choice between food and their medication. We have to something big.”
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
