Spike Lee showing love for the legend Bernard King As it tends to do, the NBA is breaking out some new promotional ads on Christmas and that is one of them. Spike Lee — staring and directing — giving some love to the New York legend Bernard King is one. And King can really never get enough love on this blog. There will be a couple other new NBA “BIG” ads on Christmas as well. Related link: It?s not Howard, Gasol says it is the system he is still trying to figure out | ProBasketballTalk

Those of you who may have seen BK play will agree he was an exciting player to watch. BK graduated from Univ of Tennessee back in the early 80s and was drafted by the Nets. As I remember, Bernard played for a couple NBA teams, most notably the Nets and Knicks. He was around 6’6” but his most valued trait was that he exploded to the basket. He gave credence to the term “now you see him, now you don’t”. He had a first step that left you wondering whether or not he was even there. He was a big time, high percentage scorer and tenacious on the offensive board. However, he had a horrible knee injury while in his prime which he couldn’t quite return from and cut his career short. He played about 13-14 years and in my opinion, he was a real joy to watch play.
