Ginobili leaves Celtics game with quad contusion
Spurs reserve Manu Ginobili has been ruled out of the remainder of Saturday’s Spurs-Celtics game with a contusion of the left quadriceps. Ginobili was injured while running into a screen by Boston’s Chris Wilcox with 2:42 remaining in the first quarter.
It is the third known injury of the season for the 35-year-old veteran, who missed several preseason games with a sore foot and several more in the regular season with back spasms.
Ginobili is averaging 12 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his 11th season with the Spurs.
That was a lousy moving Pick by Wilcox. The guy is an 11 year veteran and should know better. Boston was playing nasty.
Ginobili’s availability for Monday’s road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder is not known, but Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not sound optimistic.
“He got a thigh contusion just above his knee,” Popovich said, “and one would think he is going to be stiffer than hell tomorrow. It’s hard to believe he’d be ready day after tomorrow for Oklahoma, but I’m not sure.”
Hopefully it does not take than 2 to three days.
We won't see Manu in the next two games that is for sure. But LEONARD might be available in to play few minutes for the Denver game.
Get well Manu!
a contusion is just a bruise. this is a different situation than 5 years ago when he'd have this. we have more versatile players around the team than before. De Colo should be able to take Manu's burdens.
