Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is a fun guy to talk to. His postgame press conference was in the hallway outside the locker room and Popovich was holding his sneakers and his suit jacket. He didn't want to loiter, but he dropped a few good quotes on his way out. On second-year guard Gary Neal scoring 12 points: "His job is to shoot the ball. Other than that he got no clue. He did what’s supposed to do." On occasional bricklayer Tiago Splitter going 5 for 5 from the foul line: "That amazes the free world, when he makes those free throws." | Hey, Tiago is entitled to screw up every once in a while and make a few free throws. He's not perfect. Give him time, he'll regain his composure and start throwing bricks and air balls soon. NOT!! Go Tiago, nothing but net, big guy. He had me jumping off the couch and cheering with his reverse layups, dunks, blocks and each FT he made. I just hope he can continue it through the season and anchor that 5 spot.

As much as I enjoyed his offense, I was equally impressed that he was tipping passes and altering shots on defense. Granted Boston is not one of the premier frontcourts in the League but it was a glimpse at what could be.

It is a contract, make or break year for Tiago. I see some early signs that he wants to make it in the NBA and become a force like he was in Europe. That being said, it's all up to him to cut down on some of the mental errors he makes which sometimes set him back more than most. He also needs to keep hitting the weights! It's working Tiago! Keep work in' it!
