SJAX out 4-6 weeks

Stephen Jackson will be out of the Spurs line up 4-6 weeks due to a pinky fracture on his right hand against the Clippers.

Rzarector7 11-19-12 09:13 PM

JUST DAMN GREAT, Leonard out too for a little while. Here comes a rough spot earlier in the year so buckle up my friends. We will drop some.

Spurd_On 11-19-12 10:40 PM

So who is still available from training camp and playing in the D-League?

choppsboy 11-19-12 11:16 PM

Maybe we should sign some washed up PF like K-mart.

Yea, That is the ticket.

We will sign the smallest guy there...... BOOK IT.

Skrobes66 11-20-12 07:55 AM

James Anderson or Damion James are my picks...

SleepyAdamII 11-20-12 09:06 AM

I forgot about Cory Joseph!

Spurd_On 11-20-12 09:07 AM

Where is Wesley Witherspoon?

I think Pop mentioned postgame that they will probably call him up and Green and Ginobili will be stuck with the burden of having to play some SF.

SleepyAdamII 11-20-12 10:02 AM

I think the Spurs are going to have to run 3 guard sets until Leonard and Jackson return. Larry Brown used to do that with the Sixers, and I think a bench of De Colo, Mills, and Joseph will do the job well for the next month... not great / not terrible but it will be good to get these young, un familiar with spurs system some playing time.

MichaelWi101 11-20-12 10:22 AM

Hoopshype ran a bit about Pop saying the Spurs would be calling up Joseph, so let's see, we're out two SF so we call up a 2nd year PG.

someone please explain this logic to me.

mckennaspur1 11-20-12 11:24 AM

Erik Dawson was an adequate fill-in last season. Will Pop give him a shot?

Lets hope thats the case Josey. I do like the idea of getting De Colo more PT and James Anderson getting another crack to make an impact. Lets hope the latter turns out to be true

spurscrazed 11-20-12 03:04 PM

Get Well Captain Jack!

I would rather he gets hurt now than later in the season.

Spurs FO MUST bring a 10 day contract player to somehow help out ASAP!

Kawai will be back in about 10 days and the options for signings at SF are worse than just having our guards play out of position. That said, if we are able to move Jackson's expiring contract for a big man, we should at least be trying to see if his replacement is out there.

spursfan9 11-20-12 11:54 PM

diaw stated the league as an SF, maybe SF/PF from what i remember. then he got fat.
he surely aint no center... that was jst a transformation while he was w/ the suns. atleast thats how i remember it.

anyways, would be cool to see Neal in a pure shooting roll in teh SF spot. surely there will be defensive issues w/ that with size but i like the idea of, offensively, seeing him spot up and pop.

parker
neal
green
duncan
blair

mills/decolo
ginobili
diaw
splitter/boner

What's up with your obsession with SJax's contract while the rest of us kick back and enjoy his fire and enthusiasm and what he brings to the team? What makes you think that trading SJax for a bigger big is some kind of panacea for this team? My opinion is that 2 good SFs in this system are equally as important as bigger and more talented bigs and that not just any big is going to bring the chemistry that SJax brings and that's hard to find.

Guapo 11-21-12 01:58 AM

Where is that UK forward guy the Spurs had signed a while back?

Also this news bit crossed the wires tonight...

Free agent center Eddy Curry has received interest from several NBA teams, according to sources close to the situation. Five teams have been in contact with Curry and expressed some level of interest in his services. Curry last played with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in two games earlier this season. He was released by the Mavericks two weeks ago so that the team could open a roster spot to sign Troy Murphy.
