GREG ODEN UPDATE(SPURS?)

Citing an anonymous general manager offering an educated guess, Fox Sports reporter Sam Amico tweeted yesterday that the Spurs are one of three teams who could β€” could – be interested in signing draft bust Greg Oden. This was followed with a full-fledged article chronicling how little interest Oden, the former No. 1 draft choice whose career has been totally derailed by injuries, is receiving on the free agent market.

One NBA GM listed three teams he considers frontrunners for Greg Oden (in no order): Spurs, Pacers and Magic. The GM made sure to stress, however, "that's just my best guess." Oden is currently back at Ohio State, working toward a degree in sports and leisure.

He is one bust that I do feel sympathy for.... he doesn't seem like a bad guy, and we already have had players txting their junk so nothing new there.

Agreed. The fact that he was already 86 years old when he was a rookie, really derailed his career....

Miracles have been known to happen and NBA careers revived in San Antonio.

Pop is good about managing minutes which might help, not playing him too many minutes thereby allowing him time to heal.

they needed at least three teams to show interest for a decent tweet. Anyone can source San Antonio if they need that third team for the story. . . . . If only because no one will ever really know.

Lazy Journalism.

And he has no history of camping out at the 3-point line chucking up bricks during the playoffs

if he signs, Oden doesn't give you much to think he'd be better than Splitter. we'd have to waive someone (Blair probably) and i honestly don't think (rotation wise) Oden/Splitter would fit unless you start Tiago.

either way, Oden wouldn't be much of a risk to sign nor would be have an important role on this team anyway (if he does well, we'd still be holding our breath until our season ended). Pop won't be with the Spurs for too long to consider Oden a long term project either.
