Spurs in Olympics Update

With France, Australia and Brazile all losing today, the good news is that Tony, Boris, Nando, Tiago and Patty can all begin to rest. Thankfully there were no injuries for those five...

And of course, the most fragile of them all, our beloved Manu still has one game to play and then he too can begin to rest, because there is no way Argentina beats this US team.

Have to say seeing Patty play so well and lead the team under Brett Browns watchful eye only bodes well for his development with the Spurs and what he could bring this year.

Manu has two more games
If Argentina beats USA they go to the gold medal match, and if they lose, they play the bronze medal match.
So, two more games

it's exiting, it's for a medal, we haven't won many this year.
it's a big deal in Argentina to win even bronze.

I guess it's all a matter of personal perspective. Usually from what I've seen of these types of games, neither team wants to be there because they're disappointed that they didn't make it to the finals and it usually shows in the type of play.

If the game is between Spain and Argentina than there will probably a bit more of an edge to it than if it's Argentina against Russia, (and all this is assuming that Argentina loses to the US again). Manu will play like Manu always plays, full out and frantic and as a Spurs fan I wish he wouldn't because he's gotten much more fragile over the years. And I don't want to see him waste one of his last two years rehabbing another injury that he got playing in a non-NBA game.

With the tension that exists over the Falkland Islands, a really cool medal game would have been Argentina Vs Great Britain, but maybe in 2016...

When there´s a final match and a bronze medal match, usually The Bronze medal winner is happier than the silver medal winner, just because they are fresh from a win, and the silver fresh from a loss.
Specially in sports with such a big favorite as the US in basketball, getting to the silver medal and the bronze medal are huge accomplishments.
And in the case of Argentina, even getting to the semifinals, with an "old" team is.

Looks like the Olympic Spurs have made it through with no serious injuries other than Boris Diaw's $20,000 bar tab.
