From Larry Coon via ESPN Insider: San Antonio Spurs Maximum cap room: $0 Midlevel exception remaining: $500,000 Biannual exception remaining: $557,000 Trade exceptions remaining: $854,000 (T.J. Ford) Significant free agents: None Notes: The Spurs brought everyone back for one more run. Tim Duncan took a significant pay cut when he re-signed and he's now the Spurs' fourth-highest paid player. Basically, the Spurs are broke and can only add salary by trading away an equal amount (minus 20% plus the 850K trade exception). No word on the total salary and it's implications for luxury tax. |

we still have the vet minimum and Bi-Annual Exception if i'm not mistaken. we signed Diaw & De Colo with the MLE, we had Green/Duncan/Mills as exceptions so they didn't count against any exceptions. that's how i'm seeing it anyway.

They need to create some roster space. Trade Bonner and Blair for a legit big man. Not one who trolls the 3 point line and misses in the playoffs. Not one who sulks like a little kid during the playoffs when things don't go his way. Fix the frontcourt!

I, for one, have resigned myself to accepting Blair and Bonner as being Spurs for the upcoming season unless Blair is traded away for a draft pick and no teams seem to be even interested in taking up that offer at this point and I doubt that will change unless a team suffers a season-ending injury to a big or a young big is turning out to be a bust. Another trade deadline miracle for a big is still in the realm of possible but the odds are heavily stacked against it.
