Nick Young to Sixers for 1 year, $6 mill - will amnesty Elton Brand

The Philadelphia 76ers will use the NBA's amnesty clause to cut Elton Brand and the $18.2 million left on his contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Elton Brand can be claimed off amnesty waivers by teams under the cap. (Getty Images)In part, this move clears the way for the Sixers to sign Los Angeles Clippers free agent Nick Young to a one-year, $6 million deal.

He'd be worth the gamble for vet's min. Why not, a change of scenery may do him some good.

He's been healthy for two years in a row. I'd take him!

That's who Dejuan Blair wants to be when he grows up.

question: the article states that teams with first right to Brand have to be under the cap....are the spurs under the cap? if so, we need to go after him

Helluva offensive rebounder in his day. If he's healthy and very cheap, go for him.

Word is that Dallas may be looking to pick him up off waivers. Given their awful offseason so far, that would be a good pickup for them.

there were a lot of factors that doomed us. we did struggle on offense though because we had to settle for Duncan posting up guys he couldn't score on.

we could've improved on defense no doubt, but i think a more major problem than our defense is when our 1-4 players can't score and need a big who can successfully create his own shot (either off the dribble in mid range territory or posting up). if defense wasn't a problem, we wouldn't have struggled so badly with Parker/Ginobili/Green/Leonard/Duncan. we were still in all those games too, so our defense carried us many times during those droughts.

No. If we get Brand it is because he cleared waivers (i.e. nobody under the cap wants him) and signed him as a FA.
