![]() you'd take Splitter for his defense. it wouldn't come down to a Hack a Splitter, mainly because Pop would probably go small with Jax before he'd put Blair in without playing basically any minutes the whole playoffs

| Very true. He wouldn't be in the game during crunch time

Tiago was a beast tonight. Everytime he gets the ball, he produced something. FTs were bad, but he was excellent overall. It's obvious that OKC ddin't make any plans to avoid Splitter and if they can not adjust, he will rule when he comes from the bench.

It would serve the Spurs right if OKC started Hack A Splitter. It's not just tht he had a bad night at the line but most of the shots weren't even close!

Spurs were #19 in the league in FT% this year. I don't have historical figures, but in my recollection they have never been that good at FTs. The Spurs used to have this one guy who averaged 57% over his career shooting free throws. He always said, "It is what it is." and for some reason Pop put up with him. Incredibly, they even hung his #12 jersey in the rafters. Maybe we should ease up on Tiago?

honestly though, you think OKC would go with Hack a Splitter? with Kendrick Perkins dangerously foul prone early in the game/Ibaka a key piece who can't afford fouls/Sefolosha who's a good defender and needs to be out there/their backup bigs need to stay out of foul trouble because of Perkins' tendencies, who would they give 3-5 fouls with without getting in a horrible jam late in the game?

Tiago has been horrible from the free throw line. I wonder if the moment is too big for him. Tiago has never (since I've been watching him) been a stellar free throw shooter, but it seems that his percentage has gotten much worse in the playoffs. If I was on the other bench, I would be a fool not to foul him every time he tries to shoot the ball. You could potentially cut a teams point production (per possession) in half (at least) every minute Tiago is in the game. That would give a team an advantage. I hope that does not happen, but it is there for the Thunder to exploit.

Tiago was great - only thing he did bad besides the FT was the ball fumbling under the basket. He catches a couple of those and we're up 10 in the 1st half.

if horrendous FT shooting would override really good defense, Bruce Bowen would have never seen any minutes on the court.

Diaw doesn't do that, but Splitter does actually set the pick and roll to the basket. i'd prefer Tiago start if that's the case (and you saw what he did vs. OKC) than play Blair at all.

Take care of the low-hanging fruit (Ball movement, transition defense, etc) and it's a double digit win every night. Maybe a loss in the next four games. Spurs are 44-4 in the last 48 games Parker has played. Play Spurs basketball, and the rest takes care of itself. Spurs don't lose 4 of the next 6. |
