Spurs-Clippers Game 4 could be (postponed) put on ice

Spurs-Clippers Game 4 could be put on ice
Posted on May 19, 2012 at 8:35 pm by Mike Monroe

LOS ANGELES – If the Spurs are going to have a chance to finish off their Western Conference semifinals series against the Clippers in another 4-0 sweep tonight they have to hope the Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes finish their NHL Stanley Cup Western Conference championship game at Staples Center in anything short of two overtime periods.

Regulation time would be preferred.

The Kings-Coyotes game is to begin today at 2 p.m., CDT. The Spurs and Clippers game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., CDT. With roughly two hours and 15 minutes required to convert the arena from a hockey format to basketball, officials have made plans to postpone Spurs-Clippers Game 4 to Monday if the hockey game were to run extra-long.

An NBA spokesperson confirmed the postponement contingency but said a start time for a postponed game is undetermined.

Like I said in the game thread Taylor mentioned that on the (Game React) after game 3 Sat.

I hope the NBA decides on that game date/time early!!!
I mean but how soon would they know if that preceding Hockey game is going to go to OT?

I agree. The Staples Center floor is my bigest concern in this round of the playoffs.

Westbrook slipped twice in the same spot (near side just left of mid court from TV's camera's perspective). The first slip could have resulted in a serious knee injury.

You know the Spurs have ice down under their court as well, right?

Shouldn't be any worries about the ice at Staples. It's there year-round. Westbrook's slip was just a random thing -- all the player said they hadn't observed any slipperiness whatsoever on the court before that or after.
