A Portland Trail Blazers spokesperson issued the following statement from president Larry Miller to a recent Grantland.com story that featured extensive comments from former Blazers center Greg Oden. "It’s easy to second guess all that factors into Greg Oden's career, but one thing we're certain of is that we took great care of Greg and always put his health and well being first. We were exceedingly patient and cautious with his return to the court in order that he would ultimately become the player we all dreamed he could be. "Unfortunately, things didn't turn out the way anyone would have liked., but we all have to turn the page now and move on. "We love Greg and always will. He's an outstanding young man and we wish him nothing but the best for the future." Larry Miller, Mike Conley Respond To Greg Oden Interview - Blazer's Edge |

He's taking next year off. I know ill get some but, whose to say a vet min contract with a new organization such as a spurs isn't a good thing for him? Couldn't be a bad thing if it happened

| it wouldn't hurt if we had a good amount of depth in the frontcourt. assuming we keep Boris, Duncan/Diaw/Splitter/Bonner (assuming we'd let Blair go in FA to make room for him) would be our bigs and if one of them goes down, we'd really be in a squander if Oden couldn't go. we'd be in a better situation like this year where if one of our bigs goes down, we have a guy like Jackson who can play the 3-4 positions and have room to sign a backup in case Tony or Manu go down.

I think it's good he is seeing the things he did wrong and will rehab his knee by taking a year off. I've always liked his potential and he showed promise his second year. Seems like ever since he left high school...things have not gone his way. He had bad luck at Ohio State too.
