San Antonio Fans Disappointed as Spurs Lose Another Close Game

By Clayton Browne

San Antonio dropped to 1-6 on the road for the season after a close 105-102 loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. It was the Spurs fourth game in five nights, and they were playing without All-Star Tim Duncan who was resting after logging a lot of minutes in the last few games. San Antonio fans are beginning to get concerned as it was the Spurs second straight loss after notching their first road win on Wednesday. The team stands at 12-7 for the season. The red-hot Rockets have now won six games in a row after starting the season at 3-7.

The Rockets ran out to a 9-0 lead in the game before a Tony Parker basket got the Spurs on the scoreboard. It was a close game throughout, with with Houston's hot shooting (55.7%) making up for the Spurs rebound edge (43-32). The Rockets led 55-49 at halftime, but the Spurs managed to pull even on a couple occasions in the second half. They couldn't quite get over the hump, though, and Houston made its free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Tony Parker was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 24 points and 13 assists, and young center Tiago Splitter has his best game as a pro with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Martin led the Rockets with 25 points and Kyle Lowry added 14 points and 8 assists.

San Antonio gets a well-deserved day of rest on Sunday and then travels to New Orleans to take on the slumping Hornets on Monday. The Rockets also get Sunday off and then hit the road for a big match up against the much-improved Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night.
With 26 points on 4 of 4 shots from distance in only 20 minutes of PT. Efficient eviceration.
Wolves' fan: ginobili vs. the wolves is like he's just kind of laughing to himself all game...kind of like he thinks it's cute that they're trying to play basketball.
