By Jeff McDonald
Express-News

Time: 7:30 p.m.
TV: KMYS
Radio: WOAI-AM 1200, KCOR-AM 1350

STARTING LINEUPS

Point guard
Spurs: 9 Tony Parker (6-2, 10th yr)
Hornets: 3 Chris Paul (6-0, 6th yr)
If Spurs have druthers, Paul will be scorer, not distributor

Shooting guard
Spurs: 20 Manu Ginobili (6-6, 9th yr)
Hornets: 8 Marco Belinelli (6-5, 4th yr)
What shooting slump? Ginobili opens by hitting 5 of 9 3-pointers.

Small forward
Spurs: 24 Richard Jefferson (6-7, 10th yr)
Hornets: 1 Trevor Ariza (6-8, 7th yr)
A sign Jefferson is getting it: Ten free-throw attempts vs. Pacers.

Power forward
Spurs: 21 Tim Duncan (6-11, 14th yr)
Hornets: 30 David West (6-9, 8th yr)
West a career 18-ppg scorer vs. Spurs, second only to Memphis.

Center
Spurs: 45 DeJuan Blair (6-8, 2nd yr)
Hornets: 50 Emeka Okafor (6-10, 7th yr)
Blair (2-for-9 vs. Pacers) should have better time vs. smaller frontcourt.

NOTABLE
After trouncing Indiana in opener, Spurs looking to move to 2-0 for first time since 2007-08. … Spurs swept Hornets in four meetings last season, scoring at least 102 points in three of them. … New Orleans’ revamped roster boasts nine players who were not on the team last year, as well as a new coach (Williams) and general manager (Dell Demps) with Spurs connections. … Only three players (Paul, West and Stojakovic) remain from 2007-08 team that took Spurs to seven games in conference semifinals.

Looks like an 8 man rotation for Spurs tonight? Maybe one or two of the Neal/Gee/Temple/Simmons foursome will prove to be productive contributors, but as of now we suddenly seem awfully thin...and short.

First place on the line!

Yes, he use to be listed at 6'-7" but now his NBA profile, ESPN and Yahoo Sports have him as 6'-8"

he wears stilettos when he plays basketball.

I think landing Trevor Ariza was good move by the hornets, if he can stay healthy he will make that team a lot stronger. But giving Collison away is going to haunt them.

Difficult to win with 38% shooting but the defense held them under 100 this time. Did anyone really expect them to win without Bonner anyway?

OUCH! Can't blame the Spurs for trying. The Spurs came without that "appropriate fear" and let the Hornets slip away with the win.
Hope the Spurs learned some good lessons from that loss....
SOOOO many things were needed to be done but Spurs did not do at that game...It pained me to watch CP3 and D West win over the Spurs at the AT and T center.
Hornets were def the better team at the end and that is why they got the W.

Spurs will rebound and win the next game. I know they will...
