Airliner flies by airport, controllers fear hijacking
A passenger jet en route to the U.S. city of Minneapolis from San Diego overshot the airport by about 150 miles Wednesday. Controllers feared it had been hijacked after radio contact was lost, but the pilots said they had become distracted, according to a federal official. Fighter jets were poised to scramble before the Northwest Airlines flight landed safely.
