Tesoro reports fire in California refinery

Tesoro Corp.’s refinery in Wilmington, Calif., experienced a fire on Friday in the facility’s coker unit.
No injuries have been reported. The fire has been contained and the coker unit has been shut down. Other units at the refinery are currently operating but at reduced rates. The cause of the accident is under investigation and the amount of damage is unknown at this time. The company will provide an update after more information becomes available.
Tesoro’s Wilmington refinery is located near Los Angeles. It has a rated refining capacity of 97,000 barrels per day and is Tesoro’s third-largest refinery in its system. The refinery produces gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuels, coke and fuel oil.
San Antonio-based Tesoro (NYSE: TSO) is an independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products. The company operates seven refineries in the western United States with a combined capacity of 665,000 barrels per day. Tesoro has a retail-marketing system of 870 branded retail stations.
