Kanye West Asked To Leave VMAs After Rant Against Taylor Swift

Kanye West was asked to leave Radio City Music Hall not long after he crashed the MTV Video Music Awards stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video.

The rapper rushed onto the stage and immediately protested Swift's win, saying Beyoncé instead deserved the honor.

"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," 'He proclaimed after he pulled the microphone out of the country star's hands. B looked stunned as she sat by in the audience.

West, of course, has a history of awards-show tirades, beginning in 2004 at the American Music Awards when he bolted during the show after losing out on Best New Artist and later telling reporters, "I felt like I was definitely robbed, and I refused to give any politically correct bullsh---ass comment ... I was the best new artist this year."

Two years later at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, West took his complaints to the stage in a similar fashion to tonight's rant.

Justice and Simian's "We Are Your Friends" bested West for an award and the rapper interrupted their speech as he popped up onstage saying he should have won, because his clip "cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it."

He later apologized for his stunt, explaining he had a "little sippy sippy" before the production.

West seemed to take that instance in stride as he joked he was going to have another "sippy sippy" before the night was over.

But his verbal attack against Swift had a more vicious tone.

According to a tweet from Jay-Z's DJ, Neil Armstrong, Swift and her mother were seen backstage crying afterward; Beyoncé brought Swift onstage for another chance at her acceptance speech later in the show. Various celebs have lashed out against West on Twitter, including Pink, who had to be escorted away from the rapper by security.

Prior to Sunday night's show, West was captured by photographers on the red carpet swigging from a bottle of Hennessey. In multiple pictures West can be seen cradling the bottle as he and his girlfriend Amber Rose were snapped; he is also seen sharing the bottle with Pete Wentz, and in a different shot, West is standing near Joe Jackson, who is holding it. Following his rant against Swift, West returned to his seat and flipped off the audience, who began booing him, before he sat down.

He was booed again in the show when Diddy announced the nominees for Best Male Video. "What I say?" Diddy asked, as the boos rained down.

West had already left Radio City Music Hall by then, however.

Kanye West is an ass.

SleepyAdamII 09-14-09 12:55 AM

who cares?

Jason R 09-14-09 07:21 AM

In this case I do care because Taylor Swift is a good choice from among a host of otherwise raunchy pop artists.

admiralsnackbar 09-14-09 09:34 AM

I've fallen out of the age group that can even identify who merits what in the pop landscape, but I do know that whether or not somebody is raunchy should have nothing to do with receiving an award.

Regardless, Kanye needs to check himself (into rehab) before he wrecks himself -- he also needs to apologize for his actions. You don't do what he did to anyone, but you certainly don't do it to a 19 year-old girl.

What a gay fish.

Dulce 09-14-09 10:15 AM

:lol a gay fish???

In this world of celebrity role models, Taylor Swift is a positive one. To have a d-bag like Kanye do something like that only emphasizes how idiotic some celebrities are. MTV should have taken that bottle of Henny away from him.

More than likely it's staged, you can't take these situations seriously. How exactly was Kanye allowed on stage, and grabbed the mic so "swiftly"? MTV obviously set up the situation by not controlling or keeping tabs on Kanye, or better yet allowing the actions to occur in the first place.

Now, OMG we're all shocked about what happened on a 3rd rate awards show. Last time I saw, record companies don't market how many VMAs an artist wins, so this award is a joke to begin with.

I don't think anyone is trying to give extra merit to this sham of an awards show, but merely alluding to Kanye's latest stunt of d-baggery. He's an idiot. Why he continues to be held in such high regard in the pop scene is beyond me.

Btw, HEY DubCJr! Wud up, brah?

Edit: Hell, and AdmSnack, too! How goes it, fellas?
