Pop star Michael Jackson dead: report Reuters - 12 minutes ago LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop giant Michael Jackson, who took to the stage as a child star and went on to set the world dancing to the thumping rhythms of his music for decades, died Thursday, TMZ website reported. He was 50. "We've just learned Michael Jackson has died," TMZ said. "Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back," the entertainment site said. There was no official confirmation of the reported death and spokespersons for Jackson could not be reached for comment. Earlier, the Los Angeles Times said that the singer had been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by fire department paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at the singer's home. The newspaper said paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene before taking him to the UCLA Medical Center hospital. Jackson had been due to start a series of comeback concerts in London on July 13 running until March 2010. The singer, whose hits include "Thriller" and "Billie Jean," had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months. The shows for the 50 London concerts sold out within hours of going on sale in March. Jackson started out as a child star in the band "The Jackson 5" more than 40 years ago. He has lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation. There have been concerns about Jackson's health in recent years but the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson had passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors. Foxs News, cable 60, is reporting he's gone. Can't believe he's dead. He was weird, but what a talent -- I loved his songs. Rest in peace, Michael. Your music will live on.

Michael Jackson, the worldwide pop sensation was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon. He was 50. According to reports on the Los Angeles Times' web site, Jackson was rushed midday Thursday from his home to a Los Angeles hospital, where he could not be revived. Jackson was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges. He had been scheduled to perform 50 sell-out concerts at London's 02 arena from next week to March 2010. Jackson, the seventh child of the Jackson family, started in the music business at the age of 11 as a member of the Jackson 5 with his brothers. The group had a number of hits on Motown in the 1970s. Five of his solo albums are some of the top-selling albums of all time: "Off the Wall," 1982's "Thriller," "Bad," "Dangerous" and "HISstory." He was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and had 13 Grammy awards and 13 number one singles. He has sold over 750 million albums worldwide. His total earnings have been estimated at $500 million dollars. His music videos on MTV, such as "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" were some of the most influential early music videos, and his sound influenced numerous hip hop and R & B artists. He was tried and acquitted of sexual abuse allegations in 2005. He married nurse Deborah Jeanne Rowe, with whom he fathered a son, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., also known as Prince, and a daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. After they divorced in 1999, he retained full custody of the children. In the early 1990s, he was briefly married to Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley. He lived at Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara from 1988 to 2005. It was sold to Colony Capital, although he still owns a stake in the property. To celebrate his 50th birthday, Sony BMG released a compilation album, "King of Pop," in various countries, but it was not released in the U.S. Michael Jackson dies at 50 - Entertainment News, Music News, Media - Variety |

A great great talent, an incredibly gifted dancer, who has to rank as one of the greatest entertainers ever. But the guy had issues, that ran deep and for the most part kept out of hte limelight. He spent a lot of money to make those molestation issues go away, but they never really did and he really hung himself with that infamous interview he made a few years back in the middle of all that. And what caused this naturally handsome man to undergo all those surgeries boggles the mind. |

| Jackson Danced and Sang Last Night Posted Jun 25th 2009 7:35PM by TMZ Staff We've learned Michael Jackson showed no unusual signs of distress -- he was rehearsing his upcoming concert at the Staples Center in L.A. But, we're told, like other nights of rehearsal, Jackson was both hours late and lethargic. We're told rehearsal went late into the evening. Jackson was singing and dancing with the backup dancers and the band. Someone who was there says Jackson was supposed to show at 7 PM but didn't arrive until 10 and he was "listless." But that was normal, according to people at rehearsal. Right now, some of the cast and crew are at Staples, packing up their stuff. ![]() Jackson Danced and Sang Last Night | TMZ.com |

| John Landis Calls the Man He Sued 'Tragic' Posted Jun 25th 2009 9:15PM by TMZ Staff We just got a statement from John Landis -- the man who directed Michael Jackson for the "Thriller" and "Black and White" videos. It's somewhat harsh -- not surprising, because Landis has an active lawsuit against Jackson, claiming the singer stiffed him over profits for the Broadway musical of "Thriller." Landis says, "I was lucky enough to know and work with Michael Jackson in his prime. Michael was an extraordinary talent and a truly great international star. He had a troubled and complicated life and despite his gifts, remains a tragic figure. My wife Deborah and I will always have great affection for him."
