Veva Hasslocher passing By Karen Haram on May 8, 09 03:42 PM We sadly report the death of Veva Hasslocher, who, with her husband Jim, opened Jim's Restaurants, the successful San Antonio chain. Vera and Jim Hasslocher married in 1946 and from their early marriage, they worked side by side on their businesses. Among her duties? Everything from bookkeeping to menu and restaurant decor development. Look in Sunday's paper and at mysa.com for a full story on Veva and her accomplishments, written by Edmund Tijerina. I can honestly say I have eaten at Jim's a number of times and have never had a bad meal --- always a pleasant experience. I remember when my wife's parents and my parents came down from Iowa and Ohio, respectively, for our wedding, we put them up in a motel across from a Jim's restaurant and they remarked how they liked the food there. Rest in peace Veva, you and your husband, Jim, have left behind a legacy I hope will be around a long time.
