Here's a good riddle
 
3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

I've been trying to figure this out for days. If you get it, feel free to post the answer.

the room was $25 --- the men paid $27 due to the fact that the thievin' little crack addict bellboy stole $2

so of the original $30 the incompetent fleabag hotel has 25 the three men all sharing one room have 3 and the bellhop's dealer has 2

got it. The last $1 is actually split up between the men. The statement, "They paid $9" is wrong. The paid $28 because the bell boy kept $2.

i just sorta got the answer that Hairyhandedgent got. They didn't know that the room was $25 dollars. they still thought it was $30. so a $1 refund seemed correct to them because they didn't know any other.

where was the tip?

the manager told them that they were charged only $25. add the $3 returned with the $2 kept by the bellhop, you come up with $30.

The amount they paid: $9x3=$27 minus the $2 tip = $25 for the room.

+ $1 returned
+ $1 returned
+ $1 returned
$28
+ $2 "tip"
= $30 orginal amount paid

or think of it like this

Guys paid $27 for a $25 room. The bellboy kept the $2 extra as a "tip"
