So I bought Reservoir Dogs

Since TBNL highly recommended this movie to me, I decided to buy it and see what all the fuss is about.

It was good, but not great. This was probably the #1 movie where every other word was a cuss word. Lots of blood and thats about it.

I think you are about 15 years too late to really appreciate the impact of this film.

At the time of its release it was pretty groundbreaking.

I guess if you waited this long to see it,there was no way for it to really live up to a decade and a half of hype.

I actually went through the same thing with The Exorcist and The Godfather.

Plus I still haven't seen Citizen Kane so I'm sure once I do I will be dissapointed.

There is a reference in Reservior Dogs to the Nurse (the wife of the Quentin Tarantino character) in Pulp Fiction. I think there are other references to other characters in both movies ( I think the Marsellus Wallace character is referred to in Reservior Dogs also).

In a lot of ways, both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction have aged badly because they were copied so much. And since QT hasn't shown himself to be highly versitle in style or general theme he looks like he's copying himself on his newer works as well.

No need to do that, since I'm not a big QT fan.

Absolutely right, I had forgotten that one.

Are there any RD/PF references in From Dusk Till Dawn? can't remember.

Reservoir Dogs was not a groundbreaking movie when it came out. It wasn't even liked by most reviewers. It is much better now as you look back at it and see hints of Tarantino genius, but at the time it was just an average movie.

It was quite an achievement for a first time director but it was not a great film. If you consider Pulp Fiction A+ movie like i do, then Reservoir dogs is a B- at best.

If you look at Reservoir Dogs as an attempt at a neo-film noir, then you gotta admire it greatly. If Tarantino was going for recreating a cop/robbers potboiler from the late 40's-50's he hit a home run.
