Longoria: "I would rather have kids than win an Oscar"

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_obje...name_page.html

For most Hollywood actresses, their looks are their fortunes.

They are under constant pressure to be thin, go under the knife to stay young and be perfectly groomed at all times.

So Eva Longoria must be the only woman in Tinseltown who says she's looking forward to losing her looks!

"My number one priority is not to stay young for ever," says Desperate Housewives' sexy Latina in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mirror. "I want to grow old.

"Your looks can only last so long and you can't depend on them forever."

While revelling in her success and good fortune as Gabrielle Solis in the hit US show, Eva, 31, insists other things matter more to her.

"My priorities are different," she says. "The most important thing to me is not work - it's to have a family. I want to be a mother. I want to get married. I want to raise kids."

Then she says something that would horrify most ambitious young starlets.

"I'd much rather have a family than win an Oscar," she declares.

As spoilt ex-model Gabrielle, Eva had to deal with a baby in recent episodes of the second series, which are being repeated on E4 at the moment.

The five babies on the set to play her screen sprog made Eva's biological clock tick even louder.

"I am big on family so I will definitely have children - at least three or four of my own," she says.

"When the show finishes I want to go home to Texas and be a mother."

Of course, she already has a father in mind for those future tots - her boyfriend, French-born basketball star Tony Parker.

They've been dating for 18 months and she wears a silver chain with the number nine around her neck - the number on Tony's San Antonio Spurs basketball shirt.

The lovebirds are currently building a house together in San Antonio, Texas.

"It's a challenge, but it's so much fun," she says. "It's like a real-life doll's house."

Eva is talking to us at a Beverly Hills hotel, but in a few hours, she's flying to Switzerland to join Tony, who is playing basketball in Europe for a month.

Four days later she's due back in LA to start filming her new movie, How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fiancee.

"This is the longest we've been apart ... Tony'll be back home in September, but I'll still be doing the movie," she says.

EVA, who was divorced from actor Tyler Christopher in 2003 after a year's marriage, was linked with several men, including JC Chasez of the boy band 'NSync, until she met Tony.

Now her eyes light up when she talks about him - which she does a lot of the time.

"He's tall, dark and handsome, extremely kind and a very shy, private person," she says. "He was probably one of the few people in the world who didn't know who I was. He'd never seen the show."

Tony lives very near the Texas ranch where Eva's family has lived for generations and they met when she and her father, both lifelong Spurs fans, went to see Tony's team play. "We're really similar with our cultures because he's very close to his family and tied to his culture with his language and his food, and so am I," she says.

When Eva was growing up she swears she was the ugly duckling of the family, who nicknamed her prieta fea - ugly dark one - because she was the only one of four daughters with dark hair, dark eyes and dark skin.

But after winning a local beauty contest she moved to Los Angeles and landed roles on several soap operas and then starred in L.A. Dragnet, a TV series that flopped.

Then the script for Desperate Housewives came along, she auditioned, was hired - and her life changed for ever.

She's just finished filming the next series - due to air here next year. Although she is reluctant to divulge storylines, she reveals that Gabrielle and her husband Carlos are locked in a bitter War Of The Roses-style marriage battle.

"Gabrielle has no boundaries and she does just what she wants when she wants. Nothing is too big and nothing is off limits," she says.

"It's been an amazing ride for me, to be totally unknown one minute and then known everywhere the next," she says. "I consider myself really blessed."

BUT fame has its downside - as she and Tony discovered when they took a secret holiday at a remote resort in Tahiti.

"There were only about 10 rooms available and we picked it because nobody had heard of it," she recalls. It was so secluded, but we walked into a paparazzi nest. "We wondered how they knew we were there - and then we discovered that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were honeymooning there!

"They never came out of their room but Tony and I are really outdoorsy - so all the paparazzi got were pictures of us instead!"

Another oddity in Hollywood is Eva's reluctance to hog the limelight at red carpet functions.

"I feel really bad sometimes because if there's a newcomer on the red carpet and I get out of the car, the photographers are all shouting 'Eva!' And I'm saying, 'No, there's somebody else there. Take her picture.'

"I know how it feels ... I used to be that person being ignored on the red carpet, when the photographers would all surround Jennifer Lopez or Johnny Depp!"

don't ever talk bad about Eva!!!

I hate Jessica Simpson (TEAM LACHEY!!!) but i like that video only for Eva.

My mom got that ringtone though so I can't get it

And the kids thing...

I'm so glad that she wants kids. A baby is the most awesome thing you can ever have. Just staring at them while they're sleeping is enough to make you feel like you have everything in the world. I hope J Lo gets preggo soon too.
