I've been playing games all my life, and have always had the current gen systems, but I can't decide what to get. I currently have both a PS2,and X-Box, but I tend to like the games that are "only for Playstation" better than the ones that are "only for X-Box". But I've decided to wait until both systems are released before I purchase either one, because I can only afford one of them. it's just killing me to still be playing on last gen consoles. I'm not really a "fanboy" for any particular system, I'm just waiting to see what I like better. Is anyone here also waiting for the PS3? If you currently have a 360, what do you think of it?

If you aren't a fanboy, buy a good PC for practical purposes (work or school ) and you'll have the bonus that you can play all the multi-port titles and whatever else you want. Then in three years, when all the bugs have been worked out of the consoles and the manufacturers have saturated their markets and are dying to move units, get both systems for a song, probably in a bundle with a proprietary game and some other value-added swag.

Super-NES. The Wii will be less expensive, but their games seem to be more for children.

So tired of hearing that comment. Anyway, Wii and a PC. If you must choose between PS2 and Xbox 360, then Xbox 360.

To me PS3 is too expensive. Also, the cell processors aren't doing so hot right now for sony. Finally, I've had many bad experiences with Sony (including broken PS2s), so I really don't trust their products anymore. If you really want HD capabilities, then I would probably look at the Xbox 360, especially when the HD-DVD drive comes out, and they start releasing their big games. IMO, for the most fun, go with Wii. I tried out Madden 07 at E3, and to me it was alot of fun, and I can imagine there are many other games much better suited for the controller. The controller is great for tennis games, FPS, fighting games, etc... most anything. You also get the virtual console, so you can play all of your old favorites. As for Nintendo making "kids consoles," I disagree, especally when it comes to Wii. EA and other developers, such as UBIsoft, have announced major support of Wii. Here are the expected launch titles: Avatar: The Last Airbender Blitz: The League Call of Duty 3 Cars Dragon Quest Swords Elebits Excite Truck Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Madden NFL 07 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Metal Slug Anthology Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Rayman Raving Rabbids Red Steel SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitza Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam Trauma Center: Second Opinion Wii Sports Lots of those titles are really adult titles more than anything else. There are a few kid specific titles in there, but for the most part, the titles are either enjoyable for all, or enjoyable primarily for adults.

360. Gears of War, Halo 3, GTA 4 (although you could play this on PS3), Bio Shock, Mass Effect, Too Human, Oblivion, Fable 2, Blue DRagon, Lost Odessy. Honestly, too me, the 360 lineup has me drooling for the next few years. Several titles will be cross platform, but besides GTA 4, none of the above titles will be available for PS3. In the end though it all depends on what you like. I am really stoked about the 360's future. Last edited by japre8; 07-22-06 at 12:30 AM. |

Well since no one has a PS3 yet its hard to say why you should get one. I have a 360 and right now it is sitting around doing nothing. I only got two games for it that i really like, Fight Night and Battlefield: MC. But some of the games that will come out for it are looking really good, Mass Effect for one has me really excited. I dont' trust Sony with the PS3, i know they have a release date but until i see them at the store i will be unsure about it.

If I was rich, I would own every system, but reality is I can only afford one (maybe I will get a Wii as a 2nd system as it will be cheaper than a PSP) Anyway, everyone has different opinions on games, but I havent found the titles lacking on the 360. Plus I like to mess around w/ the XBox live arcade. Quote:
Another difference is the next gen systems (360 and PS 3, maybe Wii) will have improved AI and Physics engines because of the increased power the next gen systems have (its not all about graphics). Just compare GRAW on the 360 to GRAW on the origional XBox. Not only is the 360 graphically superior, but the enemy AI is much "smarter", givving you a much better game experience. All the systems will have their selling points, basically you just need to decise what you will be happy with and go with it. The Wii is going to be innovative and give you unique gaming experiences you wont get on any other system. Plus you will be able to download past NES titles. Major selling points to me. The PS3 is going to have the most technology packed in them. It will give you blue ray capability at almost half the cost of a standard Blue Ray player. The XBox is focusing a lot on community so a lot of games will be designed to play w/ friends over XBox live or having buddies come over and link systems, etc.. From my personal experience I have a lot of friends who I cant see anymore b/c they are in the military, but we get online every night and play GRAW, NFS most wanted, LOTR, etc. We love the online capability and the fact that we can get on even though we may be 1000's of miles apart and play some co-op or deathmatch or whatever. |

To quote IGN back in November on the review of NBA2k6 "Xbox 360 fans can and should expect more out of developers and the hardware as we all move forward with this new console." So far this has not happened.

I think Oblivion is a must have.
