I use too much salt

What are the side effects of using too much salt on my foods?

You can cook with salt, and then you shouldn't put more while you are eating.

You can buy a low sodium salt, usually they have potassium in those.

You can put pepper to enhance the flavour without use a lot of salt.

It makes you bloat because it helps to retain fluids.

It's important for a healthy diet to eat a little salt, specially in hot places during summer. It is also a source of iodine ( at least here, I don't know in the USA).

Too little is bad, too much is bad too.

I don't think table salt is really the problem. Most of the salt in your diet is probably "hidden" salt in prepared foods you wouldn't necessarily suspect. Almost all packaged foods have salt in them, either as a flavor enhancer or a preservative. For instance, Jell-O® pudding contains 180 mg of sodium per 1/2-cup serving.
Here's a good link on the importance of low-sodium diet: http://www.nyhwriter.com/lowSaltlinks.htm

Have you tried Kosher salt. Its really good! It looks like big chucks but it has a soft taste and you dont need much.
