Passed up stephen jackson, traded down to 43. Their picks, when they finally actually make one, better be solid. They have addressed very few of their sum need during this off-season and better get something going here pretty soon.

They got an early 2nd (11), a 5th and what will probably be a very nice 1st next year. It looks very good to me, especially if they get Greg Jones with one of their 2nd round picks.

With exception of the draft...which the result isnt known for Dallas yet..I think they have had a decent off season Picking up Drew Henson was a STEAL. The ESPN analysts were saying today that Henson's talent level would have made him the #1 pick in this years draft and that many NFL people had him listed above David Carr in that years draft Marcellus Wiley was a nice pickup Keyshawn was a good solid pickup as they were talking about today I wanted Stephen Jackson...but the results of this draft remain to be seen Quote:
Parcells "second years" with every team he has coached has been better than the first Dallas raped Buffalo on this trade though chances are that #1 pick will be high next year. Dallas has more needs than just one player Jackson is good but RB's are not that hard to find. Look at denver...they plug guys in and out and still have a good running game every year |

If we end up with Greg Jones, I won't be that disappointed. I really wanted Jackson, but knowing that the Bills may suck next year has given me hope. I can deal with the fact that Jones can't catch because we still have richie... I just hope (if we take him) that he is healthy. He can be a work horse, when healthy. The cowboys pick is coming up... I hope they don't trade down again. I'm hoping to add a corner and Greg Jones here in the 2nd ![]() We just took Julius Jones.. not who I expected

When I say they are looking more towards next year than this year....I don't mean they want to tank it or take a step back. I mean that its obvious we have more problems to adress than just a running back. If all we needed was a RB then I am sure we would have stuck with Jackson....but the odds that we make a serious run for a superbowl this year are not that great (especially with Pats and Eagles looking better). But if we fix some whole this year....and with two 1st rounders next year (one of which might be really high)...next year could be the year that we do some serious damage. I think they are trying to build a winning team for the long haul...not for right now. |

I don't think we'll do major damage untill Henson is under center. One ESPN analyst suggested that he could have been ranked at the top of this draft. Cowboys select Notre Dame's Jones with first pick 06:14 PM CDT on Saturday, April 24, 2004 By MATT MOSLEY / DallasNews.com IRVING - After trading away their first-round pick, the Cowboys took Notre Dame running back Julius Jones with the No. 43 overall pick in the NFL draft. Earlier in the afternoon, with running backs Steven Jackson and Kevin Jones available, the Cowboys opted to trade their No. 22 pick to Buffalo in exchange for the 11th pick in the second round, the 12th pick in the fifth round and the Bills' first-round pick in the 2005 NFL draft. Jones (5-10, 217) had 229 carries for 1,341 yards and 10 touchdowns his senior season. He had three 200-yard games his senior season and holds the Notre Dame record for kickoff-return yardage (2,104 yards). Jones was academically ineligible his junior season at Notre Dame, but bounced back last season. He’s not a punishing runner, but he does have explosive speed. By running a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, Jones moved up the draft board. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones had talked about his desire to trade down with the first pick, but with Jones and Jackson still on the board, the trade came as somewhat of a surprise. Parcells recently told team scouts that he planned on being around for quite awhile and today's move backs that up. The Cowboys were apparently concerned about a right knee injury that Jackson sustained in the Las Vegas Bowl last season. Jackson tore his right meniscus, but he was still able to run a 4.55 in the 40-yard dash during recent workouts. The Cowboys have now increased their number of picks from five to six in this weekend's draft. And with Buffalo coming off a 6-10 record and losing their top cornerback in free agency, the Cowboys could end up with a high pick in next year's draft. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...1592465c9.html A lot of stuff that has been said here. I guess Jackson's injury concerned the Cowboys enough to move out of the spot.

Keyshawn was a good solid pickup they also had to trade someone good to get him. is keyshawn that much better then who they traded for him? lets see if he fits in before saying he is solid as a rock. in tamba bay he did not. when the started lossing. winning cures alot of things he did say he like the coach.

Dallas needed a posession receiver..which Keyshawn is. they needed someone who wasnt afraid to block and make the touch catch over the middle. someone to catch the 4-5 yard pass to keep the chains moving Keyshawn played very well for Parcells in the past and they have a good relationship Keyshawn wont have any problems with his coach this time. He respects Bill Parcells |

Here is some info on our 2nd and 3rd picks of the day... Jacob Rogers SELECTED BY DALLAS , ROUND 2, PICK 20, OVERALL PICK 52 OT | (6'6", 307, 5.25) | USC | COLLEGE STATS Data from Scouts, Inc. Grade: 85 Alerts: (D: DURABILITY) Player that can't stay healthy Comments: Rogers is an efficient run blocker. Consistently in good position in running game. Hard worker, will drive legs, work to sustain. Stronger up top than in lower body. Good at keeping separation, using hands to direct defensive line. Runs well, stays under control. Very good balance as blocker in space, consistently hits moving target. But cannot overpower defenders, lacks lower-body strength, more of a position-and-wall-off run blocker than anything. Will have trouble against big, powerful defenders. Tall, decent bulk. Experienced starter with solid technique. Good initial quickness in pass pro set. Moves very well laterally. Bends at knees, excellent leverage, excellent body control. Can mirror and slide vs. double move. Adequate upper-body strength, can control line if he's locked on, but lacks initial pop and won't jar defenders with initial punch. Has good initial quickness. Comes out of stance with solid leverage in running game. Does not explode but shows above-average quickness. Quick set in pass pro. Rarely beat inside. Weaker lower body. Lacks powerful punch. Has most trouble against physical, powerful ends. Will struggle to overpower linemen at point of attack in run game. Has trouble anchoring vs. bigger, stronger linemen on bull rush. No major injuries, but always nicked up. Good athlete, but won't wow you with speed or agility. Good foot quickness and lateral agility. Runs with balance, control. Can hit moving targets in running game and rarely loses to speed or athleticism in pass pro. Rogers was one of the fastest-rising linemen in the 2004 class. He is a fine athlete who continues to add bulk, strength and technique. There were concerns about his durability after he added so much weight and had health troubles, but he has settled in at around 300 pounds and did not miss significant time in 2003. Rogers is athletic enough to play left tackle and could develop into a very solid starter. Rogers is clearly the third-best offensive tackle in this class and should come off the board by early in the second round. Stephen Peterman SELECTED BY DALLAS , ROUND 3, PICK 20, OVERALL PICK 83 OG | (6'4", 317, 5.28) | LSU | COLLEGE STATS Data from Scouts, Inc. Grade: 45 Comments: Peterman has very good size, strength. Ttough and aggressive. Adequate initial quickness out of stance. Explodes in the run game, shows good initial pop. Keeps legs moving and will drive through blocks. Good at sustaining. Strong upper body, keeps good separation in pass pro when locked on. Has the base to anchor in pass pro. Decent feet. Improved mobility. Durable. Has slimmed down but lacks mobility, athleticism and has trouble moving laterally in space. Loses balance too often. Overextends in pass pro at times and has trouble getting in position to pick up blitz or stunt. Needs better technique. Inconsistent hands. Will take poor angles. Will take false steps coming out of stance. Lacks awareness as pass blocker and has some trouble vs. stunts and blitzes. Peterman is an experienced three-year starter. He began his LSU career as a defensive lineman and playing sparingly at tight end before moving to guard in 2001. He has continued to improve and has lots of upside. Peterman has ideal size and adequate quickness. He is a mean, tough, aggressive player who has turned body fat into muscle, but he is a below-average athlete who gets into trouble in space. He must improve his footwork and use leverage and balance better. Overall he is a big, powerful, mauling guard with enough short-area quickness to be effective in pass protection. If Peterman can stay in shape and continue to improve his technique, he could very push for a starting job by 2005. Peterman is likely to be one of the top five guards selected, roughly in the third round. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My take on todays draft... Parcells wants to load up on the line and run the ball, this draft is evident of that. We now have a speed back to compliment Hambrick, who isn't a bad back as a backup (he did well backing up Emmitt). We have added two lineman who can run block, which we do most of the time because of all the play action. So, today was a good day draft wise. We didn't get a top RB, but we did add to the team some parts that will help in the long run. We gained an awesome pick next year, which could turn into something special. links... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/d...player?id=7749 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfldraft/d...player?id=7633
