I'm feeling a little nervous...
 

I've gotta leave in a few minutes to go see my eye doctor. I have some vision loss in my right eye, and I've got to have laser surgery. We're hoping that will halt the vision loss, or at least slow it down dramatically. I'll let you all know more when I find out. In the meantime, I'd appreciate your prayers. Thanks.

Thanks, everybody. It's done already--only took about half an hour, from dilation to final photon torpedos. The laser firing only took about two minutes, and was completely painless. Right now I see only a blur with my right eye. He said the blurriness in my eye should go away after a few days. It will be a while before I know if the procedure was successful, though.

I got really good news yesterday. I met w/the retina specialist who did my laser surgery for a recheck and not only did the procedure stop the vision loss in my right eye, it actually improved my vision somewhat, which is better than anybody hoped for. :letsdance (pre surgery, I was down to 20/40 w/glasses--now I'm at 20/25) The retina guy cut me loose and now I just have to go for periodic checkups with my ophthalmologist.

Let me be a lesson to everyone here: keep your blood glucose levels under control and save your eyesight.

Awesome news. I've always been interested in laser surgery, since I'm sick and tired of contacts and glasses.

I was in the same boat as you for years until my wife told me to "just do it" best thing i've done for myself in a loooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg time.
