So some of you know about my HIV scare I had a long time back. That's what caused me to get into helping promote abstinence and if not, safe sex. Generally I just like to educate people on safe sexual practices and I encourage people to prevent the possibility of contracting harmful STD's.

There's a class of HIV fighting drugs called Caragenin's that have produced CSA-54.

Caragenin's have other disease fighting applications besides HIV but obviously HIV fighting ability are their most exciting applications. In most cases HIV treatments prevent replication of the virus until mutation. Other treatments prevent errors in the script that HIV carries so that in replication it remains defunct, again until mutation. Newer drugs simply deny entry of the HIV virus or fusion of it into the white blood cell.

However CSA apparently hunts it down the way a white blood cell is supposed to hunt disease. It doesn't prevent replicatoin, defunct the script, deny it entry, it acts in a person to actually kill the virus.

The interesting part is that it does this in multiple mutation strains of the virus. One of the reasons we've had difficulty in making a long lasting treatment is because of its mutations and adaptability. Now, though, we seem to have something that will not only kill it but do so in all its incarnations. At least, if further trials prove successful.

Yeah lived for a while thinking I was dying. Had one summer where every month I was struggling with the thought that I might die young.

Well you got to understand I went celibate a looong time ago. Then about two years ago, just slipped up completely. Just wasn't thinking at all.

So yeah, I had a real big problem with depression for the longest time. And I'm celibate again and a little smarter.

Caragenin--is that the same as the additive they put in food?

No it's not in fact I'd say it sucks about 100% of the time.

When you say scare, do you mean that the person you had sex with had a positive test or someone they had sex with? Or, did you just assume that since you had unprotected sex you might have AIDS? Sorry to pry, just curious.

I have a friend that is pos and he is currently doing very well on meds, I hope that this drug you are speaking of works well for this plague.

They were positive. And immediately afterwards I had a ton of wierdo sickness going on - and you have to understand I'm the sort of person who doesn't get sick, ever. I'd never been sick like this in my life.

So I started to freak out a ton. That's when I started researching the disease, what are signs, etc., and I had to wait to get positive results that I was negative.

The meds they have right now are amazing from where we've come from and the right combo can mean you'll live a long and relatively normal life. The condition is chronic now, not lethal, so you can get old even though you'll have to stay on top of your drug regimen, in addition to proper eating and body conditioning for best results.

CSA 54 looks like an amazing breakthrough if they can repeat test tube conditions in animals and humans. 3-5 years is a while to wait but it'll be amazing if it pans out.

If true, this would decisively "parole" all PWA's.

I'd hate to jinx it by saying so, but the CSA 54 may tend to foreshadow the post-AIDS era.
