I just read some poster had a scare with their daughter tonight - I'm sorry about that. I sort of had one, too, but it was expected. For about three years or so now my grandma has been battling lymphoma (cancer) and passed away tonight around midnight, just about when the Spurs' lead was getting super thin. I, of course, was with her and it was weird because I was really happy that the Spurs won, but also kind of sad about my situation. But I was also happy that I had a place like Spurs Report to go to, a place where I can get my mind off of other things. Honestly, if it's a debate thread or just plain rooting for the Spurs, this place always lifts me up. And I'm so thankful to have found great friends here: Alamo Girl, Lucky, Spurs21Cowboys21, TheLadiesMike, Ginofan, missmyzte... even if they didn't know what I was going through, I'm really thankful for their friendships and I know I can always count on them for a laugh. I'm not feeling as sad - just thankful that I'm a part of this place ![]() Love you all. Laura |

I agree, Sith. Thanks everybody. Really means a lot! Quote:
Her name was Graciela. That's actually my middle name. We're all just happy she was able to go peacefully at home, and the suffering is over. Again, thanks. |

Sorry to hear, I'm happy to hear you're handling it well though. Take care.

Laura, I know what you're dealing with. My family and I went through a similar situation late last year with my uncle. Only he only lasted a few months. Still, it hasn't been easy. In the spring of 1995, I lost my great-aunt, who in essence was like a grandmother to me - and had it not been for the great run that the 95 Spurs were on at the end of that season - I might have lost my mind for awhile. I was in a tough place emotionally and mentally. So I can relate to the fact that at times something as trivial as a sports game can mean so much to us in our time of need. I don't always understand when people post such personal things on this forum - most of the time I don't think this is the place. But you have many friends on this board from all over the place - and if talking to them in this manner can help you get through this time, than I'm glad for you. I hope it helps. When the family gets back to their daily routines and life seems to get back to normal for everyone else but you, think of a memory that makes you smile. And then just smile. Sometimes, that's all we can do. God Bless, Richard Last edited by RichB; 05-01-05 at 09:02 PM. |

Thanks again everyone. It truly means a lot. I agree about posting about this sort of stuff on a message board, RichB... But I did want to tell certain people what happened and I feel very comfortable posting here. Your words were very kind, and today I was just thinking how things are going to go back to normal soon, which is the best thing that can happen. |
