I start tomorrow at InfonXX.

8.75$ an hour to start isn't bad.

Good luck with the job.

I think I started at $3.75 an hour or something close to that for my first job...of course that was like 13 years ago.

It was a summer hire job when I lived in Germany. I worked in a counter intelligence department. I even had to get a security clearance.

You would think that would be cool for a first job...but it kind of sucked.

I had to be escorted everywhere..even to the bathroom.

My first job was sacking groceries at $.85 an hour (yes 85 cents) and customers didn't have to tip in those days. Tipping is a relatively new thing.

Since when are we supposed to tip the bagger? Oh and my first and current job was designing web pages.

Not bad. That's more than Martha Stewart is making per hour these days.

I know what that's like, my friend. I had a summer job I had to get a security clearance for. Pages and pages of paperwork, interviews with people I know...the works. Supposedly the government pays ridiculous amounts of money (I've always heard >$100,000) to conduct this stuff.

The funny thing was, they couldn't get mine finished on time. As a result, I had to work at a building literally in the middle of nowhere in the desert because I didn't have the appropriate clearance. (What was the clearance for, you may wonder...literally, all it did was let me cross a "secure" parking lot unescorted to the building where I should have been working. That's it!)

The best part was, the government finally sent me the clearance two weeks before I left...only 2.5 months late in a 3 month job! Gotta love it--government efficiency at its finest.

Good luck. Remember, the only two things you can control are your effort and your attitude.
