Do any of you know how much the trilogy is expected to cost when it first releases in stores? I am not talking about the pre-order prices or internet prices...but how much will a place like best buy charge when it first comes out in the store? I have searched online but could not find anything but the MSRP...but I doubt it will cost as much as the msrp when it first comes out. |

My friend and I were discussing this last night. We both work for Target, but have not seen next week's ad. We guessed it would cost less than $50 and maybe even less than $45. But don't quote us.

Right now it's $42 at Amazon. I thought about this, I was not alive to see star wars at the theater. But Lucas made a point I respect, he said that any artist always wants to go back and change something, whether it is a movie, cd, or painting, and that is true. And plus, the changes he makes are mostly minor and don't really change the plot and I can get over that. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

bestbuy's pre-order price is $42.99, I know you asked not to get pre-order prices, but I'm guessing it would be about the same come next tuesday. If anything best buy usually charges more during the pre-order.

I actually was going to preorder it...but they have a flaw in their system where if you try to pre-order it to pick it up when it comes out...it says the local stores are out of stock (duh...its not out yet) and wont let you go any further. So basicaly you have to get it shipped to you...but I dont want the extra delay. I guess I will just wait till it comes out and pay whatever it costs...I doubt it will be too much more than the $42 or so Bestbuy and Amazon are charging for pre-orders. Quote:
Yeah...I can understand where he is coming from with that. They just didnt have the ability to do a lot of the stuff he wanted to when he first made the films. If he wants the DVD vesions to be his "director's cut"...well I cant argue with that. The only thing I would have prefered...is that if was going to change the ghosts at the end of Jedi to a younger Anakin...he should of also had a younger Obi Won. |

This is a repost of my other post in the other Star Wars thread: ----------------------- If you are going to buy this set... then, as a movie fan, I *implore* you... PLEASE buy the widescreen versions (i.e. the silver-colored boxes). With so many movies (Star Wars being one of the best cases) you lose so much of the picture with the fullscreen versions. Here's one such example: Widescreen ![]() Fullscreen ![]() You can't even see C3PO in the second shot. I'll be glad to post more links/images if it will help convince you.

Widescreen FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it doesn't cost any extra.I gave in and ordered it online with the 3-5 day shipping. I'll get by October and that's good enough for me. My total price was about $44, not to shabby.

It should be about $39.99 next week. When the Indiana Jones DVD came out Walgreens had it for $34.99. Even though there are changes in the DVD cut, it also has the best picture quality any Star Wars release has ever seen. Check out this link for changes and quality: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/review...rschanges.html |

eyes VHS quality is VHS quality dude, I don't care what you burn it onto. And even if you were fortunate enough to have a laser disk copy, those things are even OLDER than the VHS copies and wouldn't help your case any more. The whole point of DVD is to have the absolute best picture and sound quality imaginable. You think burning an old VHS tape into a DVD is gonna even come close to that? You burn that onto DVD and you can forget about digital sound (THX,DTS,5.1 surround sound familiar) and digital picture quality. What's the point? Just to have it on a little disk and show your friends how smart you are? You act like it's a totally different film! There are some differences I'll admit, but not enough to boycot this DVD release! Grow up. |

i don't care about the vhs quality...i can deal with that. duh, no kidding it won't be as good. but as for the films being different, that's your opinion. especially in 'return of the jedi' which i like the most...there are significant changes. one scene in jabba's lair is replaced and the end scene is totally different, just to mention a couple. LAME! call me a purist, but i ain't wastin my money. |
