Any bike riders in here?

I am looking to get into riding a road bike for health/sport/recreation and am curious as to what a good brand to buy is for performance and the buck. I am thinking of spending somewhere around $1000.

I have a Haro mountain bike, which is good for what it does, but, I have no idea as far as what to look for in a road bike. Any suggestions?

the bike I wish to have : a Pinarello Dogma Ego

btw, these Pinarello Charisma wheels rock!

The Bora ones kick ass too. But the price is crazy ($2599)

Cool...thanks for the link, French....those tires are stellar, by the way.

Lee: I use my mountain bike any and everywhere. I use it around town quite a bit ,but, the wife and I have some land out past Helotes off of 211 (future homesite)that I like to ride on. I think that the city is fixing up the SA river from downtown to Military drive as a greenbelt/bike trail, but I don't know the status of it. Macallester Park is not bad. I think that in 2005 they will be opening Government Canyon State Natural Area that should have some cool bike trails also.

A while back some people in the city council was proposing a bike trail project for SA.

It was to put bike trails all over the damn city.

I saw it on the news several months ago...don't know if anything has happened with it.

Even if they decide to do it...I'm sure it will take years finish.
