Any of you have satellite radio? I have been looking at getting it, cause the radio here is . K-Rock was cool, but now they are starting to play the same ol same ol songs. I have looked at both XM and Sirrus, but I am having a hard time deciding. Looks like Clear Channel does not own any part of them, cause they don't have Rush Limbaugh or Jim Rome on either service, I like to listen to them occasionally. But I am leaning toward Sirrus, it seems to have better music lineup. Anyone have either? Would love some feedback. Let me know.

Just got xm this past week. Seems to have more choices than sirius. I really got it for the talk/news radio stations. It has "America Right" and "America Left". "Right has Michael Savidge; Michael Reagan; Laura somebody ....not sure whom else. "Left" has Al Franken (should stick to comedy) and Garafalo. Purchased the adapter to have it in the home as well as the car - delphi system. David

XM is awesome. I've had it since September and it's gotten even better since then. No commercials on any music station, and a much, MUCH, MUCH better selection of music than any Clear Channel station. (By the way, I believe Clear Channel did own a stake in XM, but might not anymore). For the long drives between SA and Houston, Mrs. MT and I almost always listen to the comedy station...uncensored and sometimes they air complete 2-hour shows. The drive just flies by now. Let me know if you have any specific questions, but as a whole I recommend it.

XM Is the best in MY Opinion. The CLINCHER for me was the Sports Programming on XM vs SIRIUS. XM had FOXSPORTS RADIO and The Sporting News Network, which aren't on SIRIUS, at least not yet. Sirius only carries ESPN RADIO and ESPN NEWS and some other network i have no idea what it is. XM has alot of Music Channels with lots of variety, although i will tell you if SPANISH is your tea then SIRIUS is the way to go because XM only has 2 channels of Spanish and they're basically the same thing. I got it because the Radio here really sucks and had become unbearable...especially the Sports Station which will remain NAMELESS, i will not promote them or in anyway dignify naming it it sucks...especially the horrendous program on the sports station that starts after TONY BRUNO...i mean Rome then CJ and Ryan on the Drive and that horrible excuse for a radio show at 4pm ![]() not only that the stations in town got old with the same ol' same ol' and the best thing about XM is that there's no COMMERCIALS!!! so i don't have to hear that annoying bastard from Gillespie Ford "RANGERS! RANGERS! RANGERS!" i hate that guy i want to garrot him with the mic cable. my XM costs me 129 for the whole year. you can pay for it monthly every 6 months or do it by year like I did. its awesome!! |

I have XM, too, and I recommend it to everyone who asks me about it. The radio in this town sucks yak huevos and I haven't listened to it in about a year (which is when I got XM - it came with my vehicle). I don't miss SA radio one bit. I'm just like MT in that I also listen to the comedy channel religiously. It's the #1 channel on my programming buttons. But there are also so many different kinds of music that you'll never hear on local rinky dink stations. I've bought some great music which would never, ever air on local radio. It costs $9.95 a month, but you get billed for 3 months at a time by credit card. It's absolutely worth it. Trust me. You won't be sorry. I also take monthly trips to Houston and occasional trips out of state. There's nothing like not having to search for local stations and re-programming the settings on your radio just to find something that's tolerable. Your stations are always there no matter where you are. Last edited by Fingerroll; 07-18-04 at 10:25 PM. |

The sports stations are great, too. Fox Sports, ESPN, ESPN News, Sporting News, blah blah blah. There's even a Nascar channel if you're into the round track stuff. I also tune in to Al Franken during lunch, there's MTV, VH1, Weather Channel (yes, the same thing that's on cable) and you can get the Playboy channel for an extra 3 bucks a month. You can't see anything (duh), but they give interviews, stories, have call-in shows and.....um.......special things. You can also block the stations you don't want to have come through if you happen to have kids listening or if you're offended by certain things. |

I got XM when i bought my new Tahoe. We use the Tahoe a lot for weekend trips to houston and coast. After our first trip with XM i would highly recommend it. We bought the 2-year package. So now i don't have to worry about it for a while. it seems like we all listen to the same channels. for me in the morning it's sports, for trips its the uncensored comedy channel (i wish some of the skits were longer), sometimes foxnews or i just search through the channel to find something i like. just go get XM if you haven't yet. |
