Why is the title of this thread in caps?
As much as I hate to say it, this is the Spurs way. Every year, fans think of extravagant trades/signings only to be disappointed. I don't see them doing much in the trade market but just playing it by ear till midseason and then revisiting if they need to upgrade at the backup pg position. To a degree it's smart because the Spurs have already invested money in the position so they want to see if who they have pan out before jumping the gun since it is a long season. However, many of us just don't see the current two possibilities panning out. Time will tell.
What I wish they would do is try and sign Mo Williams or another vet PG who the team can be almost as effective as TP and confident during crunch time. If healthy, I would have loved for the Spurs to get Billups, but obviously... no longer an option.
