Union Olimpija today sent a tweet farewelling Baynes, suggesting the reports of the 26-year-old's move to the big time were spot on.
"Thank you for everything and good luck - @aronbaynes!" the team posted.
According to the reports, the 2.08m-tall centre has been offered a $3.5 million contract over four years.
In 10 Euroleague games this season, the Cairns product averaged 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds a game for Union Olimpija and has earned a reputation as being the best big man in the competition.

If the move is confirmed, he will join Boomers teammate Patrick Mills on the Spurs roster.
The only other Australian in the NBA is Andrew Bogut, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury with the Golden State Warriors.
